Japanese Association of Healthcare Information Systems Industry

Greeting

Japan faces a super-aging society compared to the rest of the world and various challenges such as the declining birthrate, aging population, and limited medical expenses, which are bringing negative impact on our lives. When it comes to the healthcare and welfare field, where we have contributed, solving these issues have become an urgent matter.

The government of Japan has been vigorously promoting a digital society through the Data Health Reform, where each citizen actively manages and utilizes their health information, collaborates with healthcare professionals, and integrates prevention, treatment, and care to extend healthy lifespans and optimize medical costs. The " Basic Policy on Economic and Fiscal Management and Reform 2022," approved by the Cabinet in June 2022, includes the "Medical DX Reiwa Vision 2030" as an initiative to fundamentally resolve the state of information in the medical field in Japan. Currently, the activities to realize the Medical DX are centered on three pillars based on the “Medical DX Process Chart”.

The Japanese Association of Healthcare Information Systems Industry (JAHIS) has set “2030 Vision” based on the concept of “Realizing a data eco cycle society” with the aim of realizing a healthcare and welfare information system that supports the health and well-being of peoples’ lives. In this vision, JAHIS has been striving for a "society where people can live healthily and with peace of mind”. We can do this by accumulating, circulating, and utilizing data on the health, medical, and welfare sectors, and the citizens, who are data providers, can receive benefits. We believe that this aligns with the initiatives promoted by the government of Japan. JAHIS will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, and we intend to formulate a further vision for a new future called Beyond 2030.

The Data Health Reform and Medical DX are not just a system update, but a data-driven concept in which each citizen proactively manages and utilizes their own health information, and in this regard, it can be said that it is a major turning point. To make “Data Health Reform and Medical DX” a success and help solve Japan's social issues, we will continue to collaborate with the ministries, academic societies, and other related organizations, actively engaging in establishing a common infrastructure and promoting standardization.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
